What is the role of the Email Marketing Strategist?

The Email Marketing Strategist is a fundamental connection between marketing, admissions, the organization, and iPEC’s prospective and current audiences. You’ll raise the consciousness of the world by creating more awareness through our admissions email campaigns, newsletters, webinars, special projects, and promotions. In practice, this role will impact the lives of our future customers through communication that will increase engagement with our brand, lead generation, and growth.

 

The Email Marketing Strategist will co-create proactive strategies with our admissions, brand messaging, and community teams to develop engaging and creative content that will be used in meaningful correspondence with prospective, current, and past students throughout the customer journey. This role is designed for an individual with an abundance of high-energy (i.e. level 6/5 energy), a creative and analytical spirit, email management and CRM management background, and an ability and desire to create exciting new opportunities. 

 

We ask you in your role as Email Marketing Strategist to: 

Overall 

  • Be dedicated to the position for 40 hours per week. 
  • Consistently show up anabolically in relation to teammates; make a positive contribution to a level 6/5 team and organization.

  • Function within the policies and procedures of iPEC
  • Keep abreast of best practices, changes to the iPEC program, and top competitive programs.
  • Effectively navigate frequent changes and/or unexpected events with an anabolic energetic contribution to the tasks at hand as well as to the team.
  • Accept other responsibilities as assigned.

80%-90% of the time

  • Direct workflows and email nurture campaigns within CRM platforms and be able to contribute to bigger plans with email recommendations to achieve organizational goals 
  • Identify opportunities for developing new automation workflows, email campaigns, and assets by consistently monitoring the externally-facing admissions, marketing, conscious community, and organizational email strategies
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and the Director of Admissions to identify and execute email campaigns that (re)engage prospective students
  • Contribute to the creation of the email communications plan/calendar
  • Utilizing the communications plan, develop email content that can be used as growth, engagement, and nurturing tools to segmented audiences 
  • Help strategically direct email list management to get the right audience the right message 
  • Manage the ongoing monthly email sends by building emails, doing a QA test, and owning the approval process 
  • Develop process and monitor fatigue levels to optimize subscription numbers 
  • Report metrics on singular email sends and nurture email tracks to evaluate and measure the success of the email strategy on established goals and data collected; use data to make recommendations for improvements to the campaigns including the use of A/B testing

10%-20% of the time

  • Write content for drip emails to turn marketing leads into sales leads 
  • Review and make improvements to the content for the nurture workflows

We are looking for the following education, certification & experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and/or Communications or English 
  • 2+ years of experience with a proven track record in content writing, email marketing and automation
  • Able to translate strategies into tactics
  • Tech and data literacy, able to translate this literacy into strategies and tactics
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • iPEC Certified Professional Coach is preferred
  • ELI- MP Certified is preferred
  • Fluency and creativity in English 
  • Proven track record of success in meeting your (email) marketing goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective follow-up skills; presentation skills a plus
  • Ability to roll up sleeves and go with the flow 

We are looking for the following technical requirements:

  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications (Google Suite, Hubspot, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)
  • Tech-savvy and able to understand how to use CRM/Sales systems and workflows in support of your strategy
  • Expert understanding of Hubspot and Infusionsoft platforms preferred
  • Internet speed connection minimum 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload on a stable connection
